Success Stories from the Veterinary Practice

Nutrient Deficiency in Pets

For us humans, it is almost self-evident nowadays to take certain nutrients in addition to our daily food. Although the range of available foods is more diverse than ever, the problem of steadily declining nutrient content in fruits and vegetables is well-known. Mass production and monocultures exhaust the soils; fruits, vegetables, and even animals are unnaturally bred for profit, exacerbating the problem. If humans supplement nutrients, why shouldn’t it be beneficial for our pets too? Often, pets do not get enough nutrients from meat, fruits, and vegetables.

Food as Medicine for Humans and Animals

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" – Hippocrates recognized this over 2000 years ago, and it is more relevant today than ever. People are increasingly aware that what they consume has a significant impact on their health and well-being. Health is no longer taken for granted, with a growing focus on prevention and a healthy lifestyle. Orthomolecular medicine, for example, aims to maintain the body's balance through the targeted intake of orthomolecular substances. Many animal health practitioners, including Michaela Wegner in northern Germany, use this approach combined with other alternative methods. Examples from her practice show how supplementary nutrients can make a significant difference in the lives of dogs, cats, and horses.

From Michaela Wegner’s Veterinary Practice

I have been working as an animal health practitioner with a mobile practice for dogs and horses in northern Germany for 25 years. I often observe nutrient deficiencies in my patients, negatively affecting their bodies and quality of life, sometimes leading to diseases. This is largely due to their diet, which, like our food, is often highly processed and lacks sufficient nutrient quality. Essential nutrients in the right amounts are crucial for animal health: they ensure optimal metabolism, support skin and gut functions, and promote detoxification through the liver and kidneys.

Targeted Supplementation Based on Analysis

Randomly supplementing nutrients is pointless and ineffective. Therefore, in my practice, I use a system that shows me the animal’s deficiencies in detail. My credo: First analyze, then supplement. It always starts with a thorough initial assessment and a detailed overview of the animal’s current nutrient status. After creating an individualized therapy plan tailored to the animal’s needs, we begin targeted nutrient supplementation – using Nikolaus Nature’s products. For over 20 years, these orthomolecular nutrient combinations have been a standard part of my practice due to their natural high bioavailability, allowing for precise use. The many successes I achieve with my four-legged patients continue to amaze even me.

A Case from My Practice with HEPAGURAD Dog®

Lena, a roughly 10-year-old Terrier mix, came to me because her coat was dull and greasy. She had painful calluses on her elbows, her hip joints audibly cracked when she moved, and I found advanced periodontal disease. After a thorough initial examination, we started a “cleanse” for her entire body with HEPAGURAD Dog® from Nikolaus Nature – a powerful nutrient mix supporting the detox organs.

Within about 10 days, we saw remarkable changes in Lena. Her periodontal disease had decreased, the joint cracking was much less, and hair started growing back on the calluses. Her coat became shinier and less scruffy. Such cases remind me that many external symptoms stem from overburdened liver, kidney, or gut functions.
“It gives me great joy to see that such good results can be achieved with gentle and very effective means.” (Michaela Wegner)

My Recommendations for Patients

For my four-legged clients, I recommend a twice-yearly HEPAGURAD Dog® regimen for 4 weeks each. The ingredients specifically support the liver and its detoxification function – regular treatments can help reduce toxin build-up, which would otherwise be expelled through the skin, causing issues.

For dogs frequently dealing with pests and parasites, I recommend IMUN Dog® ‘Para’. It supports the gut, creating an unfavorable environment for helminths and germs, preventing them from spreading. A healthy gut promotes liver and kidney functions, creating a metabolism unfriendly to fleas and ticks. The best time for IMUN Dog® ‘Para’ is before the pest season in spring and fall to prepare the body optimally.
“Working with veterinarians, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and other animal health practitioners is very important to me. Conventional medical treatment can be beneficially supported by natural medicine, offering good preventive measures against certain diseases and aiding recovery after long-term antibiotic and cortisone use.” (Michaela Wegner)
