Much more than "just" a curry spice
Curcuma is a ginger spice and is also known as turmeric or saffron root due to its color. The underground shoots of turmeric are dried and ground and are then available in supermarkets as curcuma root. Curcumin, on the other hand – the main active ingredient in curcuma – is the plant pigment extracted from the root, which is said to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiviral properties. In Ayurveda, curcuma is one of the so-called "hot spices", which are said to have a cleansing and stimulating effect. In fact, curcumin can promote the formation of gastric juice and thus have a positive effect on mild digestive complaints such as bloating, constipation or a feeling of discomfort.
Curcumin is also frequently used as a therapeutic supplement in the treatment of rheumatism, diabetes, cholesterol and arthrosis. With its antioxidant properties, it can protect against cell-damaging substances and have a positive effect on the body's defenses and immune system. The functions of the nerves and liver can also be supported by taking curcuma. As a fatty substance, NN Curcuma plus is ideally taken in combination with a meal with a high fat content. To further increase bioavailability, the curcumin in NN Curcuma plus is combined with piperine, a substance found in black pepper. Piperine stimulates the intestinal mucus and the curcumin can therefore be absorbed even better into the body.
