What it takes to be happy
5-HTP is an amino acid and at the same time the precursor of the happiness hormone serotonin. Although the body can produce 5-HTP itself, this requires a sufficient intake of L-typtophan. This precursor is found in eggs, poultry, fish, bananas, nuts and chocolate. Therefore, vegetarians and vegans in particular find it difficult to cover their requirements.
5-HTP has the advantage over L-tryptophan that the body can quickly and easily convert it into serotonin - almost 100% of it.
